  • Thanks! This piece sounds quite easy, but it is actually much harder than it appears. The melody is divided between the hands in the middle of the texture while the bass and harmonies are subtly woven below and above it. Trying to get a singing tone and shape the phrases using mostly the "inside" fingers while the other notes are very quiet is a technical challenge. But this transcription by Alexander Siloti is a masterful one, and it was a favorite of Sergei Rachmaninoff.
