Dang, George Oliver STILL got it! My mom saw Mandala in L.A. in 1967 and caught his skinny white tie during the whole "Five Steps Of Soul" showcase! I still have the two original "Member Of The Soul Crusade" buttons from the show.
Great stuff. I was too young for the original Club Bluenote but was a regular at the 'new' one in the '80s. George & Gangbuster ruled. If you have a chance pick up the Live at The Bluenote cd. Awesome 'TO' talent. Dom Troiano, Roy Kenner, Wayne St. John, Shawne & Jay Jackson to name a few.
Best soul revue i have ever seen in the 60s Geores Oliver and the children
