This video is Part II - II of an Ecology: Trophic Feeding Levels Unit Powerpoint that can be downloaded at http://sciencepowerpoint.com/index.html
The 600+ slide unit Powerpoint, assessment, and class notes become the road map for an exciting and interactive unit full of lab activities, challenge questions, discussion opportunities, project ideas, assessments, modified assessment, review games, answer keys, videos, and much more.
The Ecology: Trophic Feeding Levels Unit covers ecology topics associated with the Concept: There Is No Such Things a Free Lunch. This unit explores how energy travels through an ecosystem and focuses on thermodynamics (See list below for more topics covered). . Text is in large print (32 font) and is placed at the top of each slide so it can seen and read from all angles of a classroom. A shade technique and color coding of text helps increase student focus and allows teacher to control the pace of the lesson. Important vocabulary words are addressed throughout the unit . Also included is a 7 page (Microsoft 2003 word doc.) assessment / bundled homework that chronologically follows the slideshow for nightly homework and the end of the unit assessment, as well as a 5 page modified assessment. 5 pages of class notes (Word doc.) with images are also included for students who require modifications, as well as answer keys to both of the assessments for support professionals, teachers, and homeschool parents. 7 video shorts (FLV files) are provided and a slide within the slideshow cues teacher / parent when the videos are most relevant to play. Video shorts usually range from 2-7 minutes and are included in organized folders. One Powerpoint review game is included. Answers to the Powerpoint review game are provided in Powerpoint form so students can self-assess. Lastly, several class games such as guess the hidden picture beneath the boxes, and the find the hidden owl somewhere within the slideshow are provided. Difficulty rating of 4 (Ten is most difficult). All of the above is organized into folders and can be changed to fit your needs or time requirements.
Areas of Focus within the Ecology: Feeding Levels Unit: -What is Ecology, Concepts in Ecology, Concept-There is no such thing as a free lunch, Energy Comes From the Sun, Food Chains, Trophic Feeding Levels, Producers, Consumers, Decomposers, Aquatic Food Chains, Phytoplankton, Zooplankton, Bioaccumulation, Biomagnification, Animal Dentition, Carnivores, Herbivores, Pyramid of Biomass, Pyramid of Numbers
