Transmission Tower Demolition - Port Of Tacoma

From 1993. Please excuse the video quality. The original master was lost, and this is off of a vhs backup copy I made back then.

The Port of Tacoma decided to eliminate two 200 foot power transmission towers. One on each side of the Blair waterway for container expansion.

The tower was to fall with the pull of a tractor. Instead, the legs twisted, and it momentarily looked like it was going to come towards us. With another presuasive tug, the tower did what it was suppose too. It's not as cool as an implosion, but it's still fun to watch! Enjoy!

This is a good example of over-engineering. For that tower to want to stand for a minute after it's started its initial fall is crazy! And it didn't even fall apart THAT much when it finally hit the ground!
