yeah, i think the rules you are fighting under have alot to do with what you would call it. it seems most grappling systems have similar roots anyway, so they are basically different interpretations of the same basic concepts.

thanks for the tip about not sparring, but doing live drills Steve. when you learned sambo was all the clinch work and striking a part of it? or was it something you added to your game from other styles? I realize that sambo is a composite style anyway

we always did striking. It was combat sambo from the beginning for me. But, I have incorporated other stuff I trained prior.

so it wasn't sport oriented at all when you began training? what i mean is, you were learning the military combat sambo? what arts and techniques did you add to it?

I did not add to it so much as simply evolve. I had studied several things before combat sambo, so what I learned prior filtered their way into my over-all knowledge. It is tough to seperate as much was very similar.
