Heretic 1.3 Walkthrough - E1M1 - HiQuality

This is my walkthrough of the masterpiece Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders (1995 - Ravensoft).
It is NOT a time attack, nor a skill show-off. It's just me having some fun and solving all the levels with 100% monsters, items, secrets.

The game runs on ms-dos emulated by DosBox, which also made me capture the video. There are no graphics or music enhancements: this is a perfect replica of the original game how we used to play it on our good old pc's.

Episode 1, Map 1: The Docks
Hardest Difficulty.

Please note that in hardest difficulty there are a lots of items and powerups missing, to make game harder. So the walkthrough doesn't really show how to collect ALL items, but only those in hardest mode.

It's FKING OLD, but it's probably the best game I've ever played (with 4).

Oh, and is it possible to play it with mouse and keyboard?

@NFSKing I think you can't play the original game with mouse aiming. But you can do it with some modern ports (doomsday engine).

just like all other doors, by pressing spacebar. you will need to know the exact point in the wall though

you know, I have always found Heretic to be more fun than Doom. Doom may be the original, but I think the developers really hit the good old fashioned creative fun nerve with this one.

I remember when I first downloaded this off a BBS and I thought: "Man, this is the most gratuitous Doom ripoff ever. There's no way this can be a good game." I was SO wrong. Heretic is the only game that lets you say "I just ripped apart a mummy/golem creature with a pair of electrified gauntlets and watched its soul escape out of the still-warm corpse." LOL

as a kid I had nightmares of doom, because I played too much with it. After I got used to it, and didn't have nightmares, my cousin showed me this game, and I was like: helllllooo again nightmares : )
