Have you seen the movie "Demolition Man"? There is a fatal flaw to this idea ...

I hope it isn't as easy to cheat as the one they had in MythBusters (v=MAfAVGES-Yc)...
And to Gina, I really don't see how an eye recognizer could be harder to fool than a fingerprint recognizer (of the same price) - you don't even have to touch the eye recognition device, so it couldn't do any chemical/direct DNA analysis unlike a very high-tech fingerprint recognizer.

Interesting!
So vampires make computers?
I want to learn more about vampire science & technology.
I guess their scientists wants to ban solar panels. I bet they prefer nuclear garlic reactors instead.

Much like the movie "minority report" isn't it? Some illegal aliens destroy their fingertips to hide their identity. Blinding themselves is a much more dramatic measure though.

Not only easier, but think of the implications... security. I would have to believe this to be foolproof, much in the same way fingerprints are. I'll be subscribing... I like your visions!

mmm that would be very interesting, I wish it could be that easy and I don't doubt that someone will come up with a program to work just like that :)

You can get something close to that for a much cheaper price. I bought 5 finger print scanners one time from ebay for 15 dollars. They work great, the omnipass software handles remembering all your passwords for websites and logging into your computer. Not eye recognition but a good alternative i think. If you get one, Id get one that has a large surface area. I didnt like the apc model.

It's close to what you describe but for now this technology is kinda expensive, $25,000. :/
