Dean Ashton retired at the age of 26. A fantastic talent and huge loss to the English game. But as Dario said: "At least he hasn't retired from playing for Crewe". One of the the best, if not the best player to ever pull on the red and white. Here are his best bits....

Can't believe how many of those games I was at! The volley against Ipswich, the drag-back and shot home to Watford and the fantastic winner in the 3-2 at Wigan stand out! Deano - Alex legend!

i can't help but still watch this at least once a month and still be amazed at just how skilled and gifted he was!! and it pains me to see the dire state of the England squad and to think about just how much better we wud av been with him in it.Rooney doesn't have jack shit on Deano and never will!

...A super guy, fantastic player who DID become one of the best, not could of, as I keep hearing.
Fulfilled all of the promise he showed as a 16 year old, only that now his career was cut short, the talent remains.
Truly fantastic player, who will be missed. Best of luck to you Dean.
