we have this bagpipe culture too , i am from east blacksea region of Turkey (Artvin) , in Laz language it is "Guda" :) and this dance is a little looking like to our dances

Seltsam, war nicht negativ gemeint. Es ist nur so das ich eine Kaba Gaida noch nie gesehen, geschweige gehört habe.

"...not entirely dead," as in an Olympic marathon runner is "not entirely dead"? Seriously, Bugarian piping has to be as alive as Highland piping; you won't see a Bulgarian festival without their "gaida." BTW there's a bagpipe in northern Spain called the "gaita."

That's not true! There is no difference between the bagpipes of bulgarian christians and bulgarian muslims. Such a thing as "pomaks gaida" doesn't exist.

Now that's a neat trick. He takes the blowpipe out of his mouth to sing, but blocks it with his chin so he can keep playing at the same time, then gets it back into his mouth without missing a beat. I'm impressed.
