  • I got to have breakfast at a Bickfords and a late afternoon jam session with the Dr. We talked about Joe Dukes, Stevie Wonder, Benson, all childhood friends- that was one of the greatest afternoons of my life.

There's nothing like having someone like Lonnie really listening to you.

  • Especially the groovy part starting at 3:07 truly establishes his playing as one of the most soulful and most sensitive styles in the world. Combined with his uniquely impressive appearance, Dr. Lonnie Smith is one of those few honest legends we have here in the world, period.

    Indeed, he's a living legend.

  • @sevenoverthree

Imagine every day for 17 days in Spain ! I toured with him and lou Donaldson!

  • Dang this is good.....!!!!

  • that particular B sounds extremely nice. i don't think it's a B3... maybe a B2 with the added box on left cheekblock. seems like might even have the very rare B2 curved fallboard.

  • when I hear the first notes of the guitar, I must think of the CD '"Kenny Burrell plays Ellington" . Very nice sound. Well done.

  • The other Dr that makes you feelgood

  • Visto al Blue Note di Milano assieme a Lou Donaldson. Magnico concerto!

  • Notice, he colors his bass the same way Jimmy Smith did, playing the middle of the lower bass so he can sit up straight!!!

What a great player. Thanks for tubing this. This makes the day!!

  • Dr. Lonnie Smith is THE BEST there is and ever was!!!!!!! His new album "RISE UP!" is outstanding!!!

  • dr lonnie is a very, very good Hammond player. But for me is Jimmy smith still the best b3 player ever!! What a sound!
