My dad's labs were trained like this. It is amazing what they can do. Although he didn't have time to train his own dogs this well he always bought his labs "finished". I remember growing up and my friends always asking me about my family's lab and how they felt he was a robot. Since I was born my dad owned a black lab (up until 2005). He has since retired and is now considering getting yet another lab but this time since he has time, wants to train the lab himself. Since he is too old to hunt waterfowl now a days (so he says) it will be a pet dog. This footage is pretty cool to watch even though I'm a pointer guy.
how do you get a dog to not be gun-shy? Except for introducing them to guns asap when they are with their mom? Most pups around 8 weeks are going through a cautious stage and as soon as they hear the sound get scared....

Dogs should never be in front of the muzzle blast. Protect the dogs hearing!!!

Wow, that's a very young Charlie Jurney of Beaverdam Kennels. He is a really good dog trainer and truly a great person.
