England's Def Leppard are one of the most successful hard rock bands of all time. The band, whose career was plagued by death and tragedy, released their most successful record, HYSTERIA, in 1987. A worldwide phenomenon, the record sold more than 17 million copies and elevated the band to notoriety. In this episode of the CLASSIC ALBUMS series, the surviving members of Def Leppard discuss the making of HYSTERIA as they sort through and explain the original multi-track tapes. In addition, some impromptu acoustic performances and musical demonstrations further dissect this classic album.

  • Ok kids of today...at 6:31 of this vid when they show the Billboard chart...look what was in the Top Ten album chart....Def Leppard, Van Halen, Guns N Roses and Poison(although I was never a big Poison fan). Those were the days in high school...Scorpions, Van Halen, Def Lep, Metallica, GNR, Motley Crue, LA Guns, Judas Priest etc(so many more hard rock bands) and even some of the pop/rock was good.

  • This video highlights the importance of a great record producer. a guy with a really good musical ear and knack of turning a good rock song into a great rock song. Where are today's Mutt Lange?

  • Living like a lover with a red i-phone

  • One of the remarkable things about Hysteria is that it didn't matter what kind of music you were into, the record pulled in rock, pop, even some country fans. It has a mass appeal and that's very special. Hysteria really is a masterpiece.
