This is cover of Toxic with flute, clarinet, guitar, bass, and drums.

The arrangement is partially based on the piano arrangement here: http://tapartoche.com/partition.php?nom=britney-spears-toxic&partition=44

Each instrument (audio and video) was recorded with a camera, as well as the audio being recorded with Audacity. Audacity was used to merge the audio tracks into a single wave file.

Jahshaka was used to overlay the video of each instrument into the separate regions of the screen. The audio wave file from Audacity was imported into Jahshaka and the audio from the camera tracks was muted.

The main challenges were synchronizing the different audio tracks together, and then synchronizing the audio with each video track. Jahshaka seems to have potential but was very unstable (on XP). It kept crashing and the only way we managed to merge everything in the end was to manually edit the Jahshaka XML project file (jef).

Note that we are not exactly professional musicians :) Carmen and BoD have only been playing flute and drums for a few weeks.

  • Haha I never thought about it that way. But I just uploaded a real Jewish song tonight! (?v=JuvrPq7tjfM) Hopefully it's better than this one :)

  • The clarinet sounds AMAZING. But the flute is really sharp and airy....especially on the high notes. Can you send me the notes for the flute???????? PLEASE

  • Pretty cool.... When I do multitrack videos, I record all the instruments/vocals on audio recording software and then play the insturments for the video afterwards playing along with the pre-recorded music. I use the sound in the video to sync up the video with the pre-recorded audio and then remove the video's audio track.. I think it's a lot easier to put everything together that way, and the sound quality of the recording is better.... just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!

  • Your flute is a bit airy sounding.

Focus your aperture more. Let your bottom lip cover the hole slightly.

Also, it's a little flat. Really support the notes for the full length they're sustained. Tonguing a bit sharper will also help.

Fast fingers, fast fingers, fast fingers. Very important when being a flutist.

    Source: 4 years of playing.

  • Bass and flute seemed like they needed more practice. But it was epic anyway!. I play bass myself and even though the song might of not had any bass slides it could of used a couple in your cover. Sorry I'm just crazy about bass slides and think it's the most awesome sound ever.

  • need more training in flute ladie...

  • I Liked. It sounds look like something Nostalgic. The rhythm. I also play flute, you could have been better. But, it was good.

  • That not bad ,nNot bad at all:)

  • i agree clarinet was ok, flute needs to be more in tune, and we can hear all the air u r using, but i understand playing that many instruments isn't easy so.. good job :)

  • good job

  • I play flute, and it was really flat.. and was really airy.. so yes it needs work.. clarinet part tho was freakin' awesome! so I give u kudos for that! =) overall, not bad!
