  • Storage food does take a lot of space. I've seen a few good YT videos on creative ways to store long-term food. Check them out. You might want to get 25 lbs of beans and rice to significantly increase your calories.

But on the good side, you are way better off than my brother who thinks his small pantry will get his family of three by good enough!

Don't be too down on yourself. Just keep prepping, you've got some time.

  • @fletcher3913 I have 60 lbs of rice and 40 lbs of beans at the moment with the other foods. Pasta is a powerhouse of calories but it's hard for me to push because others are not as fortunate as me to live with a creek and a 40 ft away and a river about two blocks away. Thanks for the video direction, will check em out. Thanks for watching.

  • An excellent video and a wake up call for the rest of us to check our food storage inventory by calorie count and not just volume. This is the kind of video we preppers need. Thanks ETP good job!.

  • @bma72184 Thanks for watching brother!

  • People just do not have an idea how much room this type of storage takes up to have the proper amount to keep the family comfortably fed for the long haul. Its good you caught it when you did, now its just a matter of making adjustments.

  • @VyperSoft Yes, my wife and I were discussing that yesterday and how to make better use of what room we do have. Finding out something like this during a crisis is a game changer. You are so right, adjustments, adjustments, Thanks for watching.

  • thanx;)

  • Cultures that eat a lot of beans and rice tend to boost their calories with fats and oils. I have buckets and buckets, cans and cans and was shocked at how little food/days I had until I used a food calculator and realized I didn't have much fat because beans, rice and canned stuff generally has little to no fat.

One bottle of oil has thousands upon thousands of calories. I now have several gallons of the stuff and it's my goal to be able to deep fry my last morsel of food or use it as fuel.

  • I discovered the same thing. Visually it looked like I had so much but counting the calories for three people, I realized the same thing you did. I would encourage all people to count the calories not the number of items. Thank you for your videos

  • Thanks for a great video. I'm just starting into prepping and I really got a lot of information out of what you've shared here. Thank you! -Greg
