Adding a favicon does not require adding HTML code your your web pages. All modern browsers detect the "favicon.ico" file automatically. If your site doesn't show its new favicon immediately, you may need to clear your browser history, and restart your browser.

  • You may need to clear your browser cache and history to view - from my testing it appears that the auto request from the browser only occurs if the site is not bookmarked or in the history.

  • Hey pretty cool tutorial do appreciate it much. However, Im not so sure about the browser detecting the favicon.ico automatically. I can't seem 2 get any of the modern browsers 2 detect it without the HTML code. So is there something that Im missing here? It didn't seem clear where exactly u placed ur Favicon. Im sure its the root directory but it sure doesn't work 4 me man. Anyway, thanx 4 tha tutorial. A little help plz? :)
