National Civil Rights Museum: A Bunch of Jerks

The National Civil Rights Museum announced the recipients for its 2011 Freedom Awards. These awards recognize those who have contributed to advancing civil and human rights.

One of the honorees is former Senator Bill Frist. Though he does humanitarian work in Africa, he is also a homophobic bigot - actively campaigning against gay rights, including marriage and adoption rights.

I don't think it's right for a civil rights organization to recognize someone who works so hard against human rights.

I agree with u 100%! I just can't stand or put up with what I call phobes! Talking about the politicians, made me think of that one asshole comparing gay marriage to polygamy! The law against gay marriage IS like outlawing interacial marriage. As someone in a "straight" marriage, I strongly support and share your views! 1. Sister in Christ, you are in dangerous waters when attempting to evaluate what God hates. God is love, and he has reserved only two things in this world for himself, judgement and vengeance. Just a friendly reminder to remember the humility of Jesus, who accepted death though blameless, and gave up his spirit in order to secure your place in heaven.

@MaryWaterton You can be a Christian and still not be hateful. The bible calls us to love the sinner and hate the sin. Not be hateful to people Look at the #1 Christian of all time, Jesus. He walked, talked ate and socialized with sinners and didn't judge them for their sins. Try opening your mind just a bit and you might find you have something in common with someone you deem filthy. Let's be honest, everyone has some characteristic we don't like. Why focus on their sexual orientation?
