It should be noted that THE NAME came from the chorus of a risque WW1, British Army "barracks-song": "...and the cheeks of her arse, went Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang!" (Thank you...no applause is necessary!)

There is a MISTAKE in YOUR OWN information. Actor Kris Kyer is and AMERICAN actor...and NOT an Aussie as you state. Everyone else in the spot are from OZ,,,

Actually it would help car owners if they remember this is a vehicles tax. Since the last few years you need to pay this TAX even if your car does not go on the road, or you need to register the car as scrapped.

No exceptions, except the exceptions. :)

There is another DVLA advert on currently which says "road tax"...

The government have helped create this myth in its pandering to voters. Motorists lobby groups like the AA and the RAC have a lot of weight behind them, it isnt the fact that they are wrong it is the numbers that influence the perpetual cycle... Even if the next government abolished VED motorists would still moan...
So what about VED being known as road tax? Because *some* motorists believe UK roads are paid for through 'road tax' and so non-payers - such as cyclists - have no or less rights to be on the road. This is wrong, as the video points out.
Roads are paid for out of general and local taxation. Cyclists have equal rights to motorists on the roads.
