STALKER was originally built with the FX series in mind so I thought it would be fascinating to try it. Performance is decent but image quality is lower than with a Shader Model 3 card. Only static lighting is available.

Youtube's video bitrate causes some blurring unfortunately. This video needed a lot of bitrate to look good. There's a lot of high frequency detail. My upload was around 3mbps.

Core 2 Duo 2.67 GHz, 1GB PC3200, Audigy, XP, driver
175.19.

  • Yes it's impressive for a FX5950 Oo You're righ, the game developement was based with the FX series in mind. I've tested recently a GeForce 3 Ti 500 with HL² and it works surpringly well ! The game is smooth at 1024x768 all details up (except AA). It works well because Source Engine was build with GF3 in mind.

  • @nfinix I have a video with Radeon 8500 playing Half Life 2 and some other games. 8500 runs HL2 well too.
