@Nostrinian . I was on board in '67-68, with a crew of 2,700, the beer was not limited to officers and senior rates. Ordinary, able and leading ratings were rationed to 2 cans a day, senior ratings and officers were not rationed. So take 40,000 (cans) devide by 2700 (crew) then devide by 7 (days) = less than 2.4 cans per day per crew member, so suggest you check your facts and do your sums before being so cynical.

2000 men * 7 days per week * 3 cans per day = 42000 cans per week.
