This is a narrative story with a poem I wrote back when my Canadian Soldier was serving during Op Orion in Afghanistan during Jan-Aug 2006. I end the story with my husband's last email to me before boarding a plane to come home after he finished he combat tour. My husband has now gone back to Afghanistan for a second combat tour in 2008 and came home safely

  • @ArrowSmith95 Thank you for your wonderful comment. It brought tears to my eyes. I am sure your father is very proud of you as much as you are very proud of him! I hope one day my son's too will grow up to be a proud son like you are to your parents!

I hope your father comes home safely as well. You and your family will be in our families prayers!

Canada is full of wonderful, loving woman who would be very happy to have a husband like you and will love and support you 100%!

  • If this poems touches you or gives you more insight to what a military family goes through when their loved one is deployed. If it can help you understand what a soldier has to endure during a deployment to a war zone then I have achieved my goal.

  • @xoxSoccer8Chickxox my mate is a Soldier / 21 yr Veteran of 2 RCR (Royal Canadian Regiment & still serving ) he has just over 42 mths of deployment under UN & NATO in some of the worst area in the world over the last 20 yrs ..i KNOW all to well the fear strains & stresses involved raising a family while your Mate serves ..

  • wow .. Thanks for the Cry ..I have felt those feeling All to often over the last 20 yrs .. (6 tours 42 mths tota my mate is 2 RCR l) Every Military Spouse Knows these feelings who have had family serve overseas for NATO & UN

the Soldiers letter at the end really intensified those feelings

  • Exceptionally eloquent - I could hear a pin drop when I listened. Thank you for speaking for so many Canadians and supporting the troops. There ought to be a medal of bravery for the mothers and wives of soldiers.

  • I give you the uptmost of credit for making this video. You and you husband should be very proud. Your children are blessed with your courage. I leave in July on ROTO. The fighting is coming to an end but Canadians will continue to carry the torch and follow in the footsteps of those before us. I will show my wife this video before I go and I hope she will be as strong as you. From one military family to the next...I Salut You.
