Oh my god this is my favorite Mink tune. Listen to that lead..That's Louie X that played with John Lee Hooker for awhile. Mink had all the sounds of the Brill/ Spector sound. Jack Nitzsche gave him that high pop soul romantic sound. Oh boy long live your sound...Peace!

Nice description of the sound Willy DeVille came up with. Of course, he absorbed all his influences really naturally- this is no pastiche.
And, yeah, it's my favorite Mink song as well. Man, I first heard this back in, what, '78- whenever it came out- and it is still the hard yearning song it was back then.
