@helmuthoorn :) hmm ok - a real pity for this great replica. do you know another east indian cruiser of this time who is able to sail? would like to see some videos of it if there is one out there

@helmuthoorn so why not the batavia?? i mean why was the duyfken save enough but not the batavia?? or is it because the duyfken sails not under the flag of netherland but australia for example......

Health and safety regulations and insurance policies in this country forbids this magnificant ship to do what it was build for. In fact the Dutch burocrats ordered the rudder to be removed and the riggins made unfit for sailing, otherwise the ship would be confiscated..
Maenwhile the ''Duyfken'', a little hulk one 5th of the size of the Batavia, sailed form Australia to the Netherlands and back.
