Where would you like to work and live in Korea while teaching ESL? I have a few thoughts about that.

  • Would just like to say thanks for making these videos. I'm currently in the process of getting all the things like background check sorted and I've found your videos to be most helpful and enjoyable. I'm from the UK so some aspects don't necessarily apply to me but you've definitely helped in making things a little easier and giving peace of mind.

  • @MuffinVacation that's great to hear, glad i can be of help. that's why i'm making these videos.

  • Where did you live in NJ? I live in the Wildwood area. =)

  • @bmaw69 You're down by the shore. I'm from Millburn, a suburb near Newark. If you've heard of the Short Hills Mall, then that's where I'm from.

  • Hey Stephen. I love your videos. I'm leaving tomorrow for Jeonju korea. It's going to be exciting! I'm actually a special education teacher, so I have classroom experience. I have a feeling that the children in Korea are better behaved than American children. Anyway, I hope that my apartment is as nice as your place. =)

Btw, how is the night life in Korea?

  • @bmaw69 Thanks! I'm in Gwangju, so that's pretty close. The Korean kids may not be as rude as American kids, but they are wild just the same. You may hear some curse words and see the middle finger, they love doing that here too. Luckily, my students don't do that, but I've heard stories from my peers. After a few weeks, the kids get adjusted to you and they behave much better.

  • Hi, I have been watching your video and wanted to know what recruiting agency you used when applying to work in S. Korea. Thanks a lot

  • @dcut74 It's not a bad idea. You are not really expected to be a great teacher when you come here. You just have to be fun and get the kids excited about English, and get them used to hearing/speaking English. You should at least like your job and want to excel at it, since that's what you'll be doing for 6 hours of your daytime.

  • You have a lot of good videos. I would like your opinion on this. I don't really think I am much of a teacher (I'm basing this on substitute teaching in the US though). I guess I would be using the job to spend time in a foreign country. Do you think this is a bad idea or not that big of a deal?

  • @phantomwaltz GPA doesn't matter, unless you have a boss who cares about that. You just need the 4-year degree so you get the visa to come over.
