1964 Oldsmobile Starfire Just started it after sitting for years. Trying to figure where the clicking noise is coming from.

  • Since it has set for some years the noise is most likely the collapsed hydraulic lifters failing to fully fill causing slack in the pushrod to rocker arms. Not a good thing. Replacing the lifters should fix it. There are 16 of them 8 intake 8 exhaust.

  • I am ready to do the same to a 62 Starfire. What preparations did you do before you cranked it?

  • worn out oilpump. I have the same motor getting redone. That noise is the rocker arms rattling on the rocker arm shafts, which may be worn due to no oil up top.

  • wheres the burnout video ?
