@BrotherRyanHicks I agree with that

@bowiehs The title explains what I am getting at my friend. I was just listing some benefits of speaking in tongues for people. The devil comes in and tries to steal or stop people from using any gift the Spirit gives them. I want them equipped to shoot down his lies when they come. 1 Corinthians 14 is talking mainly about which gifts are to operate in the church. Paul is not discounting tongues in the least, rather explaining their proper time and place.

Although I enjoyed the video, I am trying to see where you are getting at? Tongue speaking are just one of the MANY signs to a believer, not ever believer will speak in tongues. That is why Paul said to desire prophecy, cause the Corinthian believers were abusing tongues, they were stll fleshly and carnal.
1 Corinthian 14:3-4. But he who prohesies speaks building up and encouragment and consolation to men. He who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but he who prohesies builds up the church.

@greenyeyes77 Amen! Praise God for His reminding us of this great truth!
I agree with the benefits of the tongues, as you pointed out. However I do not believe that every believer must speak in tongues, implying that is the only sign. Now if you are not saying that,please clarify what you mean.
God bless you brother!

@bowiehs It is THE sign of being baptized in the Spirit (Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6; etc.), but it is one of many gifts. I think that believers should operate in all the gifts. The Spirit is looking for people willing to be used by Him. It is not a sign of being saved, rather it is a sign that one has moved forward into the power and giftings of God. Though, Jesus did say that it was a sign following those that believe on Him (Mark 16:17). Tongues are for ALL believers. [continued...]

@BrotherRyanHicks But tongue speaking is not to all believers. Not every believer has the gift of tongues, for one it does not edify the church, but only the person that is speaking it. What use it if it you are speaking in tongues but you are not growing? Paul talked about buiding up the church, you do not have to sepak in tongues. Many signs, that is plural, that DOES NOT imply that you will speak. It is not the ONLY sign, that is deceiving.

@bowiehs Saying that because not all believers speak in tongues means that it is not for all believers would be like saying that because all are not saved that God does not offer them salvation. Not everyone presses forward to get all from God that they can. Also, I am not sure what you heard in the video, but I never said tongues was the only sign, but if one is baptized in the Spirit they will speak in tongues. Remember Jesus said tongues follow them that believe (Mark 16:17).

@bowiehs Also, what happens in the church is different from what is permitted and encouraged in private prayer. I encourage you to just read through 1 Corinthians 14 a few times and notice the distinction between outside the assembly and speaking in tongues and inside the assembly. Just because someone abuses a gift does not discount it. Nothing in 1 Corinthians 14 is discounting ANY gift of the Spirit, rather it is just explaining the order and usage of certain gifts. God bless you.

@bowiehs [...continued] In the church there are different ministries, and not everyone will speak in tongues for a ministry, just like not everyone will prophesy as a ministry. That is not to say that one who is not a prophet could not prophesy, or that one who does not speak in tongues in the church (requiring interpretation) could not speak in tongues privately. In the church we are focused on edifying each other, but in private prayer all could speak in tongues. It is a blessing.
