100 hours? for anyone who says that's not alot probably doesn't have anything else to do.....if you have a part time job + going to school you have little to NO time to do anything else how are you supposed to fit in 100 hours? while his proposal sounds nice at first it's a Catch 22- because they make you pay back for what they give you....no different than how they get ppl to join the military - 4 years of service for 4 years of school...

when nigga obama says this shit will cover americans, does this also include immigrants????

Oh. I get it. It's free money. But you have to work for it. Just like anything that is free. Just like my job gives me free money. Ok, that makes sense.

wake the fuck up .. instead of your stupid tax credits , cut taxes.

how about eliminating student loans altogether thus causing enrollment to drop because of high tuition and other scam fees some universities/colleges have imposed which will in turn cause tuition rates to come crashing back down to reasonable levels. No longer worth it to go into debt and no reason to go into debt to access higher learning.

I am all for this. I'm not joining the peace corp, but this will definitely help me because no one in my family will co-sign for me, and I am struggling to get student loans.

I have an internship, job, and a heavy school load. So yes, if I plan to sleep or actually do well enough to get into my graduate school of choice, it will make my schedule rather tight.
This will help some students who have the time, but it is far from a panacea.

100 hours is like 2hrs a WEEK! You don't have 2hrs a week?

Forget mandatory public service. It would waste the students time. Such programs are useless and phony. (1) Force colleges to reduce their costs and, thereby, reduce tuition. (2) give students a good loan only if they are in a field where we need them. (3) Get tough on the deadbeats who don't repay and use loans for extended childhood. (4) Forget a tax break. Young people don't pay any taxes anyway. Typical government - come up with the worst solution to a problem.
I make $10 an hour so it would take me 400 hours of work to pay for $4000.. I sure as hell would rather work 100 hours then 400 hours at home depot. I think people who say 100hrs is a lot are pussys who don't want to work.

Oh you would not do it for $40 an hour? you must be rich. I work as well and will cut my work hours for this. I sure as hell don't make $40 an hour and have no prob cutting my $10 hr job.
