A few answers to questions posed by Theism411 on my Death And Atheism - Part 2 video. This seems to be the easiest way to respond as opposed to the small text boxes and scattered layout provided by YouTube.

  • I was already an atheist when my first grandchild passed away a week before his due date. It was a crushing blow, but my daughter (also an atheist) and I were able to deal with her son's death better than our Christian relatives. We ended up comforting THEM. They had to also deal with the ANGER that comes with it when their all loving God chooses to do something so fucked up.

Very sorry to hear of your and your daughter's loss. The death of children has to be one of the hardest things in life to deal with. But I can't see religion offering any real comfort on that front. Catholicism especially is quite confusing because it created "limbo" and has now decreed it doesn't exist. So where did all the baptized babies go?

I hope that both yourself and your daughter have better days ahead.

  • @rohanwotan2 For some reason, it is normal to want another child right away. I'm expecting a granddaughter in November :-) Of course she worries all the time, but the first one was an umbilical cord accident. I would definitely argue that to be a serious design flaw.

In the "Left Behind" series, babies get a free pass into heaven. I don't know just where and why they decide kids are old enough to face the fires of eternal damnation.
