This was a 6.2 lb single break canister shell. I ended up shooting it out of a 6 foot tall steel gun with 7 oz of homemade lift.

Considering that it didn't go ALL the way to the moon, my lift may be a little on the weak side!

Other shell specs: Burst was a mix of willow BP and cottonwood BP, semi-well milled. As filler between the stars I used coarse pulverone style KP. The stars were "New Blue", "Ruby Red" and "Winokur 39." The glitter stars were bound with NC lacquer which lent to the stars being short lived and burning way faster than desired. However it was a good exercise in getting me to stop with the acetone! (Granted, if I had time to let dextrin bound stars dry for the shoot, I would have used them)

The horizontal spiking had a tapered pitch, increasing in density towards the glitter stars (which were in the bottom 2/3rds of the shell). However I think it is clear that the break pattern was dictated by the star burn time way more than anything I tried to do with the horizontal spiking, lol.
