A gated layout in Bangalore invested in a Rainwater Harvesting system in mid 2007. The Recharge well, 5ft dia and 30 ft depth was a part of the system and was integrated to their stormwater drains. This clip was shot in mid Dec 2008 a month after all the rains - Is the well yielding or is just the recharge rate low ?

  • THIS IS TOTALLY UNSAFE ACCESS TO THE WELL! THIS CAST IRON CLOSER IS VERY BRITTLE AND CAN BREAK EASILY IF A HEAVY PERSON/ANIMAL STEP ON IT. IT IS ALSO GOOD ACCESS FOR DOWNHEARTED PERSON FOR COMMITTING SUICIDE. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU REDUCE THE HOLE OR JUST CONNECT A PVC PIPE TO THE WELL AND CLOSE IT WITH CEMENT CLOSER.

  • Great that there is good quality of water in the recharge well.

  • I'm assuming you asked the residents to keep an eye on the recharge well during the rainy season to note the percolation rate.
