this is a brilliant product for landscape photography where it can be very difficult to judge proper depth of field or precise focusing on a tiny camera lcd. It also has applications in architectural and fine art photography where you have the same issues. This is not really a product for hobbyists. For what it does, the price is not bad at all.

Put in the backyard and wait for a hummingbird while sipping beer. :-)

This is just way too clunky. Mounting the monitor on top of the camera is just begging for disaster. Sorry, but this one is a pan.

looks like a bad deal, large and bulky...and who makes 4:3 nowadays? it should be 16:9.
nothing new here either, wireless video triggers have existed for at least 2 years.

The whole thing is less than $600 it's $598... lmao... big deals after taxes it will be $600 !

When mounted to the hot show, I can just see someone bunping it and ripping the hotshow right off the camera!

common someone make a EOS utility Ipad app and a breakout-cable for the ipad to tether it to the ipad and become a millionaire. Dang wish I was a programmer :)
You would get unbeatable battery-life and yes HD in monitoring instead of freaking SD??? damn its 2012 guys.

@Oculus729 and what if you got a canon camera with the batterys? and the batterys from 3rd party cost 20€ or less and they are as good as the others. AND you dont have to take two charges with you if you can use them in your camera.

$598, plus the cost of two batteries. What do the batteries cost? Another $100 or so? That puts the package at $700, plus taxes and shipping. The fact it uses Canon proprietary batteries is a deal breaker for me because not only do I have to purchase the batteries, but I would need to purchase a charger, so now I am likely over $750 for the package. NO thanks!
