haha i work there

It doesn't have to have a cloud touch the ground. Tornadoes can be completely invisible from cloud base to ground. It's condensation and what it picks up that gives it it's color. A tornado technically is a cloud just like the cirrus/cumulus/nimbus/alto/str
ato family. (And this summer I'm working for the NWS ;) )

what was that guy doin with his kids lol he runs inside then runs back out
-
it did touch the ground, did you watch the video?
-
I live there! I was standing outside the hotel watching that!
-
Trust me...it touched down. I saw the destruction. And watched the hotel be rebuilt. Trust me

that's a funnel cloud, not a tornado, the NWS says that its a Tornado only when it touches the ground.
But that is friggin scary

That's just... wow. Really amazing. I would have just exploded from fear.
And yes, that IS a tornado. It touched down.
I know that this truckstop is on the south side of I-70 but this tornado appears to be moving westerly. That seems wrong but maybe it's just me.

Thats not a tornado, it's a funnel cloud. Tornados actually touch the ground.

Funnel clouds don't do damage, see the debris being kicked up. There are some additional pictures on the fickr set too.
