@Caitsith810 Actually, advanced students get to operate alone, with the Trainer sitting outside the cab in the closest seat. This way, the Trainer gets a chance to assess the skills of the student without hovering over the student, ready to jump in at the slightest mis-step. It is much less stressful for the student, and he gets to focus on his job in peace.

Actually, this train IS in Sevice - SCHOOL CAR SERVICE. The Apprentice Train Operator is practicing his starts and stops, and will continue to do so until he is ready for his Road Test.

@ERA3733 - Nope, seen this same set in passenger service before recording this, it did a Parkchester run then went out of service. This was not a school car set as this was taken during the Rush Hour.

@Caitsith810 The answer is that the train indeed performed a Parkchester round-trip, and then the Road Operator turned the train over to a Student and Trainer who had the assignment to lay up this specific train, making simulated Station Stops between Parkchester and Westchester Yard. When a crewman is assigned to School Car, he/she gets lots of different assignments designed to hone skills.

@ERA3733 - But arent you supposed to have another person in the cab with the student? Because I saw that same operator pull into Parkchester.
