Wilhelm Vordringer - they write in the subtitles!?!?!

@Eraserlips He did oppose the party by refusing to join it. He was under tremendous pressure to do so, and unlike Karajan, resisted it.

@eddihaskell You are honorable!

Furtwangler is wielding the magician's wand, and he is tearing the music out of his own soul and out of the orchestra. Go and read how Furtwangler hypnotized his players and the public . You can certainly see these convulsions of soul and body in this video - just transcendent musicianship.

LOL Furtwangler looks like he is dead and Goebbels pulled a "Weekend at Furtwangler's" on the public.
It looks like he is being moved like a puppet on strings.

in this factury shown here were juifs as forced workers also.... who then died in concentration camps.... Furtwaengler knew this....
Furtwaengler did not put up other programs than german music? HE EVEN DID NOT RESIST WITH MUSIC !!! so lets stop defend the human being Furtwaengler ha wasn t that good, as we all have to accept he was a great conductor.

@Calvarienberg -I 100% agree. They were godlike in their awesome talent and he was below swine like.in his depravity.

good thing the Soviets did not catch him. He'd have been conducting the business end of a shovel in a copper mine until he dropped dead.
Furtwangler was a gentleman. My mother was a soprano, who worked with him in the early 1930s, in Germany.
She told me "No way was my professor a Nazi!"...
My mom was Jewish. She loved to sing Wagner...
Just because Richard Wagner was a bit crazy... We can still enjoy his wonderful music.
My mother stayed in touch with Furwangler until his death. She had the utmost respect, for him as a human being, and as a wonderful musician.

What surprises me here is that you are having a discussion on whether or not Furtwängler was a NAZI. There was already a trial to decide that, and he was found innocent. He saved lives, as did Schindler, by employing Jews. What would you do, if you were a conductor under harsh circumstances.
