Melvin previously attended the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) as well as representing the Australian U18 National Team and completed his schooling at the Maribyrnong Sports Academy where he graduated as part of the class of 2011. He is an explosive player, and versatile playing both as a striker and wide midfielder. Footage is of him representing the AIS against top Australian A-League youth teams.
