not too sure if I like this drill, it seems to me that in trying to teach the girls correct approaches it is gonna teach them bad habbits as well, for instance the fact that they are so worried about jumping on to the boxes that they are not watching the ball, the setter, or the passer. Probably would not use this with my team, sorry to disagree but they are obviously too focused on jumping on the box then actually doing a correct approach.

Sorry to disagree, Perhaps box jumping without the set and hit. But getting there so early then waiting on the set,,,eh. Not one I'll incorporate with my kids. I do appreciate all your videos though! :D

this looks pretty cool. It looks like it helps the rhythm of the approach too, good stuff.
The first Left Side and the first Right Side hitter are 'Goofy-footed' which means they are doing their footwork backwards. The last 3 steps are supposed to be Left-Right-Left (for a right-handed person). If the coach doesn't fix this NOW, the kids will never hit well and they might even injure their shoulders because they are generating all their power with their small shoulder muscles instead of a good hip turn. Have you ever see a baseball pitcher throw off the wrong foot? It's not possible.

@mhawke The first left side is left handed. The first right side was supposed to take that first left step, but as you can see she wasn't ready and skipped a step to get there on time, but her steps were "right, left" so still taking the right approach.

especially the middles, they really need to open up to the passers before their approach.

@Tucker2682 I can see where you're coming from. Thanks for your feedback.

I also think they are getting there way to early. If this is just a step by step drill then maybe its ok. If you are going for timing then I would speed this up a lot.

@Lostboy0526
It's definitely not a drill for timing. There would be many injured players if we sped up the attackers and had them jump onto boxes and meet the ball at the net. This is for 2 separate drills that we simply combined into one drill to cut down on time. 1. Setter placement and 2. Approaches (plus a swing if you count that separately).
Hope this clears it up!
