mukdener i think that your referring to HVOF (flame spraying)
and no it's not adapted for stainless steel
and no this method (wire arc) is a lot more simple than hvof and a lot easier to do by hand as you don't have the tremendous pressures of your oxygen tanks and FG2 catalist
the inner workings of the machine he is using looks something like a mig welder but with two arc wires instead of one
He is not wearing proper UV protection!

i think flame spraying is the simplest method
but i don't know if it is applied for stainless steel

An excellent demonstration of the process. Would have been more helpful if the type of machinery used and a close up of the final finish be given.
What is the thickness that was achieved.
Any simpler method available to spray coat stainless steel shafts with stainless steel?
