    folk metal is infinitely more tied to the instrument use than the lyrics. lyrics dont give a song a different sound

    I'd say no simply because their lyrics are not centered on gore and death which is the common theme amongst death metal bands. This would fall under the folk metal sub-genre due to its lyrics being heavily laden with asatru references. While although it does lack the use of traditional folk instruments that is not a mandate.
