    Every note has its own frequency. Combination of frequencies that are integral multiple of of a fundamental frequency( which here is string frequency without any fret being pressed) sounds pleasant to the ears. A guitarist plays 1 note. Then for the next note he uses whammy bar which temporarily changes the frequency, but this frequency though alien fits harmoniously with previous one being an integral multiple. But this is good only for limited use. Out of tune guitar is always inharmonious.
