"Things were getting kind of crazy with both our careers, and things just didn't feel the same, so we decided to try being just friends, and we ended up liking it better," Jillian explained. Thank God she was fast thinking on her feet cause I couldn't come up with anything.
"Doesn't sound like the rough breakup you guys made it out to be," Emilia scowled.
"It was really hard emotionally."
"I'm still not sure I believe this."
"Oh you know the best way to test it?" Jessica said suddenly.
"Oh here we go," I mumbled to Jillian and Rebecca.
"When people make out, there's either a connection if they were ever in love or it's just awkward cause there's nothing there."
"Or maybe it's awkward cause they're broken up," I said.
"Or they avoid it because there's no connection and they know it," Jessica said, trying to act all smart.
"You know what? It doesn't matter. You don't have to," Emilia said. Oh thank God. "Either way, whether you dated or not, you're still single and available. And we will get back together." She started to get up.
"Wait!" I cried. Then I paused. I didn't have a plan past that point. But I couldn't let her leave thinking she had a chance. I glanced at Jillian. Hopefully she'd go along with this. "Truth is, we never broke up. We're still together. We were just trying to hide it for the sake of both our careers."
"Yeah, both our managers thought it would be better if we were single," Jillian added. All right, she was on board.
"Now that I don't believe," Emilia said, laughing a bit.
"Well, it's true."
"Prove it."
"Prove it?"
"Prove to me you two are dating."
"How?"
"Well, if you're dating then there's gotta be a connection. So now you have to make out."
Man, I should have just let her think there was a chance. I couldn't ask Jillian to go this far. She came over to me. "You can back out if you want," I whispered to her as I leaned in.
"You'll just have to owe me big time," she whispered back before we kissed.
Once we pulled apart, Emilia laughed and said, "What was that? If you want me to believe you, it's gotta last more than a second. And you gotta use tongue."
"You know, Emilia, this isn't junior high. We shouldn't have to parade this out for you," I snapped.
"Well, then, we don't have to believe you." She started to get up again, but then Jillian grabbed my shirt and pulled me into another kiss. I slid my tongue into her mouth, and after about a minute, we pulled apart. I looked up at Emilia, who just screamed and ran out of the room. Jessica quickly followed her.
Once the door closed behind them, Rebecca just started laughing.
"Jillian, thank you so much," I said.
"Like I said, you just owe me big time now. You can start by paying for the pizza we're gonna order."
"That sounds fair. You know, for someone who's never been in a serious relationship, you're a pretty good kisser."
"All right there, Jonas, don't get any ideas. I've got my eyes on someone else," she said, already dialing her phone for the pizza.
I smiled, remembering Cassie. "Don't worry, so do I."

{Ella's P.O.V.}
I had tried to go to sleep after, but I couldn't. I was thinking about Kevin. Part of me was worried that he was mad. But another part of me was mad at him for leaving me like that. I walked into the yard and sat down on the porch swing.
"Pst Ella," I heard.
I looked around but didn't see anyone. Great, I'm hearing things now.
"Hey Ella."
"Who is that?"
Kevin emerged from behind the trees. I shook my head and looked away. "Ella, I'm so sorry."
"You know, I really thought you were gonna be the one that saved me."
"I know, I should have, I was stupid. I don't know what else to say. But I'm here to save you now."
"Well, you're too late now."
"For today, yes, I am, and I'm sorry about that, but I'm not too late for tomorrow."
"I don't think I can trust you now."
"You don't have to trust me. You don't even have to like me, but I'm not leaving you here with your uncle."
"Why do you care?"
"Come on, Ella, you know that's not fair. Besides, don't do it for me, do it for the others. They miss you. Jordan was ready to rip my head off when I didn't bring you back, and she's been crying. Nick's just as pissed at me. And I just got a really weird text from Joe about having to make out with Jillian, so who knows what's going on with him."
I didn't say anything.
"Or do it for yourself. You need to get out of here."
"He pays for my college, Kevin."
"So I'll pay for your college. Just you gotta get out of here. Please." He held out his hand.

Is Ella gonna go with him? What's gonna happen now that Emilia thinks Jillian and Joe are dating? Is she gonna tell Cassie? What's Cassie gonna think?
