@kfwahine so what your saying is, even if a FAT person was to know the dance just as well as SKINNY people, they would still look ugly and just promote diabetes? FACT: skinny ppl get diabetes as well NOT just fat ppl. It's not about the damn appearances, its about what's in their hearts. U must have some ugly insides if u have to post in a comment that fat hula dancers r only promoting diabetes. whats wrong with u. smh.. shame on u!
@caitlinf2011 My hula teacher is definitely not slim, and her dancing kicks serious butt. It's true that healthy bodies are important, but in hula, body size is NO INDICATION of skill (or even fitness. I have no idea how Auntie goes so long without being tired; I'm wiped out in five minutes).
Thank you for posting this one and the others, been missing Hawaii very much. I'm not from there, New York is where my heart is, but I lived in Maui 3 times and it and the people of Hawaii will always hold a special place in my heart.
As you know, body size is not important for Polyensian people, but what they have inside their hearts count most.... As long as they wear the same overall counts more than the appearance..... The spirit of Hula is the most important... doesn't matter fat, skinny etc........
Mahalo for sharing your talents, but what I liked most is they were all slim and so beautiful, not fat and overweight like some groups. That only promotes diabetes and other problems from obesity rampant today.
I love Weldon and Lei Ho'oheno may be my favorite song.

I hope it's okay to ask, but how are the flowers in their hair? I've always wondered, is it like a comb? Anyhow, they dance so beautifully!
