Episode Title: Pretty Maids All in a Row. (Pt1 of Ep1)

BERKELEY SQUARE tells the story of three women from different backgrounds who enter service as nannies in London in the early 1900s. Matty Wickham is from the East End and has worked her way up the ladder. Hannah Randall has run away to London after the death of her aristocratic lover, and Lydia Weston, a Devon farm girl, arrives in London for a fresh start. Set in 1902 we can peer into the lives of upstairs Lords and Ladies and below stairs butlers and nannies.

(Alright, so this isn't technically a Catherine Cookson movie, but I figure that Cookson fans will appreciate another obscure period drama. Apologies for it being a bit cut off at the bottom.)

  • Thank you so much for uploading these! I remember watching this on television with my mum when it was first broadcast, I was just a child then and I didn't know London at all. I moved here a few years ago and got so excited the first time I found myself in Berkeley Square!

  • What else is the grumpy housekeeper in? It's driving me crazy trying to place her!

  • the lady of the house sure looks like a miserable woman :D

  • I watched this some time ago on VHS library rental. It is a splendid piece. So many fine actresses.

  • These parts are mislabeled or something. You will miss alot.

  • This one grabs you really fast!!

  • 'You smell like a tart'! if the little sod knows what a tart smells like it is very dodgey household....

  • @hebsmum I agree, and I found one of the story lines so tragic that it couldn't really be followed up. Unless they changed casts, introducing new nannies with these three as background characters, or made it a soap opera of never-ending melodrama, how could you have another season?

  • I just finished Downton Abbey. Is this good too?

  • Thanks so much for uploading these...brings back lots of good memories!
