what an amazing orchestra...

Compare Harnoncourt w. Chamber Orch. of Europe -- perfect tempi and a lot of excitement with a bare minimum of gestures. Too many conductors wave their arms around and get in the way of music.

I have a recording of this piece being played BRILLIANTLY, but at a somewhat faster tempo, and it sounds incredible. I'm not sure what recording it is, which orchestra, who's conducting, etc. But if anyone knows where there's a faster version of this on YouTube I would be very grateful.

@billyguns2 -I totally agree. His Beethoven and Brahms violin concertos with Menuhin are IMHO the best.

@SatchmoSings -He did not like him,but had to admit that he was impressed with his greatness

The best of all !
Thanks
One of the greatest "Egmonts" I've ever heard, with real depth, nobility, and amazing structural awareness.
