This is Pt. 2 of a video I made for some friends in Las Tunas Province in Cuba of a trip I made there for New Years 2006-2007. I had to divide it up into 4 parts to upload to YouTube.
Part 1 is just a car trip across the island from Puerto Padre to where my friends live in Tunas.
Part 2 is going to get a live pig for the feast.
Part 3 is not for the squeamish. It is the processing of the pig.
Part 4 is the cooking, the feasting and some of the fine faces of Cuba.

The whole thing was shot on a Canon S3 at various quality settings and edited up in a mix of Premiere and Movie Maker, so don't expect high art. I hope it brings back some memories of Cuba.
For a look at some beautiful Cuban art available in the U.S. and Canada, please visit http://cubanocanadian.ca or http://myworld.ebay.com/cubanocanadian/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

  • I hope your family was OK after the hurricanes and flooding in the fall. A very tough year. One of my favorite towns is Gibara in Holguin, and I know it was devastated.

  • The video drive starts in Puerto Padre but the pig is in Sitio Viejo, near Amancio Rodriguez.

  • coñoo estaba grande el puerco ese.

  • this is my hometown, and i'm really happy to c las tunas, but i feel soo sad for the pig.
