Desperado, why don't you come to your senses//You've been out ridin' fences//for so long-now//Ohh you're a hard one...

Linda Ronstadt (b. July 15, 1946) is an American popular music recording artist. Her many vocal styles and performances in a variety of genres have resonated with the general public over the decades. She has earned ten Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award, numerous United States and internationally certified gold, platinum and multiplatinum albums, in addition to Tony Award and Golden Globe nominations.
A singer-songwriter and record producer, she is recognized as a definitive interpreter of songs. Being one of music's most versatile and commercially successful female singers in U.S. history, she is recognized for her many public stages of self-reinvention and incarnations.
With a one time standing as the Queen of Rock where she was bestowed the title of "highest paid woman in rock", and known as the First Lady of Rock, she has more recently emerged as music matriarch, international arts advocate and Human Rights advocate.[8][9]
Ronstadt has collaborated with artists from a diverse spectrum of genres -- including Billy Eckstine, Frank Zappa, Rosemary Clooney, Flaco Jiménez, Philip Glass, The Chieftains, Gram Parsons -- perhaps more than any popular music vocalist in modern U.S. history; she has lent her voice to over 120 albums around the world.[11] As Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times noted in 2004, Ronstadt is "Blessed with arguably the most sterling set of pipes of her generation . . . rarest of rarities - a chameleon who can blend into any background yet remain boldly distinctive . . . It's an exceptional gift; one shared by few others."
In total, she has released over 30 solo albums, more than 15 compilations or greatest hits albums. Ronstadt has charted thirty-eight Billboard Hot 100 singles, twenty-one of which have reached the top 40, ten of which have reached the top 10, three peaking at No. 2, the No. 1 hit, "You're No Good". In the UK, her single "Blue Bayou" reached the UK Top 40 and the duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much", peaked at #2 in December 1989. In addition, she has charted thirty-six albums, ten Top 10 albums, and three No. 1 albums on the Billboard Pop Album Charts.

  • She can belt it out, seemingly without effort, she can sing it sweetly and softly - with total control, always right on the note, with total emotional clarity. That's talent.

  • I am here because of Melanie Amaro. I am sure now she will win:)

  • Linda's an american icon. She spawned some legendary talent & inspired generations of singers & songwriters. I saw her in San Diego around 1978. The girl's got horsepower...

  • this is a great song by linda and the eagles

  • I prefer the original by The Eagles, but this is a very respectable cover!

  • Linda & Billy Payne were always a magical combo, even before his days with Little Feat, he played in The Stone Ponys that Linda was a member of in the LA Troubadour days.....what a great song. I was sitting with friends in 1974 doing extra curricular activities the night she did this with The Eagles on Rock Concert....we all stopped & looked at each other; we knew that was a night to remember. Funny, I remember that episode REALLY well, the boyfriend I had....not much.

  • @raklein1944 hmmm I don't agree .. that voice of hers is just so amazing and breathtaking especially at 2:53 .. it blows my mind away, I do want to hear heo music too. And for that time period, that was part of the show, there wasn't the dance and pony show they have now in videos. IMHO

  • @searcherboy Listen to the tori amos version...

  • She's an amazing talent but the pianist forgot that he's her accompaniment, not the star of the show. He's way too heavy for the song.+

  • @peterd274
