  • This was originally produced for an ethics class at the University of Oregon journalism. I just made it easier to read.

  • There is no difference between Act and Rule Utilitarianism. When you are evaluating utility, you do so on the different concerns involved. Only by artificially limiting the concerns in Act Utility can you propose that Rule Utility exists. This is why learning at Philosophy at University is verbose and usually a waste of time.

  • I'm currently in debate, and this really helped me in understanding the theories we debate about in class. So thank you for posting this video.

  • can anyone tell me what's the name of the background music?

  • Thank you very much for this video. I will use it to bag my 1st Class.

  • You can take some things from Utilitarianism but when the circumstance arises that seems to counterdict utilitarianism , then play it by ear, improvise, use all the philosophies as tools , but the ultimate goal should be freedom and equality and if someone has the potential to earn 10,000,000 dollars, they can ask themselves do I need all this money? I earned it through my talents or luck, or inheritance but how can I get some of this down to the bottom and not become the bottom?

  • 0:30 'intended to produce' ? im not sure if thats right..
