An attack on the International Relations theories that dominate the USA educational establishments. An English academic cartoon character talks to a US student cartoon character. The theories are analysed from a poststructural perspective. Every US IR student should watch this.

  • Speaking of logical fallacies, maybe you want to look up a straw-man argument and re-watch your video...Seeing how you are censoring your posts now, I doubt that you will.

  • @punchyR What is interesting about your arguing style is that it is on the very rhetorical gesturing that poststructuralism approves. Of course I know what a straw-man argument is, and of course you know I know what one is. Your argument is out to win by using the scientism in keywords like "logical fallacies". You are entrapped in the mindset that I mock. Today could be the first day for you to change this.

  • LOL.

"You have obviously been watching too much Fox News."

  • One thing I've not managed to grasp with poststructuralism is what happens after deconstruction? I take the opinion that 'reasonable' (for lack of a better word) assumptions have to be made in order to engage with a subject.

Even though I do fall into the realism/English school areas myself, I did enjoy your video. US academia really needs IR pluralism, like we have in Aberystwyth! Strategists sat right next to postcolonials...

  • Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing An attack on the International Relations theories that dominate the USA educational establishments. An English academic cartoon character talks to a US student cartoon character

  • Try watching this while on Acid

  • Imagine how we Americans feel when we have to flee our homelands to learn good IR theory in England, Wales, Scotland, or possibly Germany. I'm a intellectual refugee.

  • The only major thing in Realism is National Interest even at the expense of other and Power is the major determinant of foreign policy of any state

  • I don't understand why constructivism is lumped in with the rationalist theories you attempt to discredit. It seems like you are making a Weberian constructivist argument. What am I failing to understand about your position?

  • Maganda ang video na ito. Magandang makarinig nang bagong paraan sa pagtingin nang iba't ibang teorya nang International Relations, gamit ang isang pananaw na hindi masyadong ginagamit.

  • Lmao, I'm learning these theories in my Understanding the Global Community college class!!! LOL, I agree that they rather fail.

  • one is trying to simplify while the other sees simplicity as assult on the grasp of reality

this conflict between attitudes is very interesting to watch - and think, how do people work together when each attitude is consider as a near assult to the other

or do they try to find ways in which they can bridge the gaps?

  • hahaha STUPID EUROPEANS.....EVEN THEIR CARTOONS ARE PUSSIES...AND THEY WOULD BE SPEAKING GERMAN AND I KINDA WISH THEY DID
