  • The main things regarding Python are rope and ropemacs (which uses pymacs) and yasnippets. Also very nice is ide-mode.

  • @justafoo42 I believe you mean ido-mode?

  • @phobbs4 Indeed, what I meant was ido-mode, not ide-mode, thanks for catching that.

  • yasnippet and for the completion ropemacs

  • @surfzion thats good question. I think the thing with both emacs and vim you dont really appreciate them until you use them in practice. The big difference here is that Eclipse and pyDeve are tools that are not meant to be extended by the end user, its doable but not the main goal. With Emacs and Vim the whole point of their existence is to make it super easy to extend. And as such Emacs and Vim have about a gazillion tools to use and even creating your own is very easy. That is why they rock.

  • I just don't see how can this be better than a "real" ide such as Eclipse with pydev.

  • nice to see fellow emacs users :)

  • Whats the option to turn on the rope minor mode. Theres no documentation!

  • seems good, where can i download the whole thing to try?

  • Wow, that looks great! I would be interested in your config. How did you setup your emacs?
