actually, jack had played in a country band for a time. One of his idols is Loretta Lynn. He may have listened to Alabama and may not have. But I'm sure he wouldn't deliberately rip them off or not give credit to them. I read an interview of his where he talks about some of their royalties going to Son House's family when they did Death Letter. It comes across as if he is all about giving due to original artists. I'd think that he'd just do the Alabama song if he wanted with crediting them.

Okay, i see where your coming from. but i wouldnt make any connection to the white stripes taking it. jack white probably hasnt even heard the song.
