1990. With Steve Cropper . The bass player is the fabulous Steve Chen - he's right on the nail. One of the coolest bass lines I have ever heard, I think.

  • Am I right in thinking that Dion shared this gig with Dave Edmunds and Graham Parker, back in the late eighties or early nineties. It was shown on UK's Channel 4.

  • @johnhareuk I think you are certainly right. Unfortunately I threw out Mr. Parker's contribution when I was clearing out my VHS tapes.

  • Does anyone know what Bass Steve Chen is playing....

  • @doowop1942 Isn't it just a standard jazz bass, but one of the good ones- Like Pastorius used?

  • This is where the real rock and roll was supposed to go. Not where it went, that heavy metal crap

  • This was my favorite song on Yo, Frankie. Not that the rest weren't great but this one really grabbed my attention. I like using the line "cocaine lies" when I'm doing counseling at the halfway house I work at.

  • dion is, and always will be, as cool as the other side of the pillow..

  • luv this

  • Was There!!! What an amazing, life changing gig it was. Dave Edmunds, Steve Cropper, Phil Chen, DION and Graham Parker. Actually this album (Yo! FRankie) was a milestone in my life. AMAZING

  • @doowop1942 Well, it could've gone that way, if your hero Dion hadn't gotten hooked on the junk. So all the accolades went to the fellow Doo-Wop singer Ronnie James Dio.

  • Phil is playing a 1961 Fender Jazz Bass. This is one of the first Fender Jazz basses produced and it had stack knob controls. Phil's bass had a rare surf green finish. A lovely bass that would cost silly money today!

  • Not forgetting Welsh legend Terry Williams on drums. Ex-Man the greatest band on the planet
