I am starting a new video series on how to build a model railroad layout from start to Finish. Learn from my mistakes to save time and money, and see if you want to do things differently on your layout.

  • hey great video, im just wondering can you get the flexi track in that other dark colour, and can u connect them?

  • @311William you can get the flex track with wood ties or black ties. You can connect them with rail joiners. I use atlas rail joiners

  • Hey whats up dawg! How was the move? Fun or hectic? I see you save your boxes. I do not. I threw out so many because it takes up so much room. I will have a hell of a time trying to find a box for the item I had in it. I do have three bags of boxes from back in the day when I USED to save them. Well enjoy the new hood. :)

  • @MonsterRailroad Hey man the move was hectic as hell. Even with movers doing everything we still had to unpack all the stuff and get rid of a bunch of boxes. Anyway, yeah I keep my boxes but I still have 4 or 5 moving boxes full of train boxes with rolling stock and engines I haven't unpacked yet. I think I'll keep them in the moving boxes so they're not all over the basement because half of them are half hanging off the shelves as you see behind me. Keep in touch dude!

  • @311William - You can even get flex track from Peco with simulated concrete ties (we call them sleepers).

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping the rest of us rookies! Very helpful!

  • What a terrific idea!! Too many people get frustrated diving right in, especially the beginners. I'm about to start my 10th layout, this one N scale, and like yours, sectional not modular.

You're spot on about 'extruded' styrofoam. Ask for it by name - the white Bally crap sucks for our purposes!

Experience still doesn't make perfection! I look forward to watching your series, and learning something new!! :-)

  • Fantastic series, great use of words and description. The modular concept and other tips were fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to produce the footage.

  • Jeez, I can't stand people who just LOVE to criticize individuals who post intelligent videos for dummies like me. Thanks for bringing your thoughts "to the table", keeping it simple and thanks for contributing to the fun aspect of model railroading.

  • Thanks for sharing!!!!

  • in the uk we call track connectors fish plates

  • STUIPID BACHMAN EZ TRACK NEVER BUY IT OR OTHER BACHMAN PRODUCTS

  • DO NOT BUY SNAPTRACK it sucks so much and your train bumps all over on the stuff

  • railway not railroad
